Overview
Affinity puts vector drawing, photo editing and page layout in a single application, split into three studios you move between without ever exporting a file. It is also free to download now, which removes the usual reason people stay on software they resent. That leaves the actual problem: most tutorials teach one studio at a time, as though you were still juggling three programs. This course teaches the handoffs — drawing a mark in Vector, treating it in Pixel, and setting it into a real page in Layout — because that is how the work goes. It is taught in recorded video lessons you work through at your own pace.

01Vector Studio
Drawing that stays sharp at any size.
- The pen and node tools, and the habits that keep a curve clean
- Boolean operations, and building complex shapes from simple ones
- Strokes, expansion and where a shape stops being editable
- Type as type, and type as outlines — and when to convert
- Exporting for screen and for print without redrawing anything
02Pixel Studio
Raster work, without leaving the document.
- Layers, masks and adjustments that stay non-destructive
- Retouching essentials — repair, clone, and knowing which to reach for
- Selections and refining an edge that has to sit on a background
- Brushes and texture on top of vector artwork
- Resolution, and what actually changes when you scale a raster layer
03Layout Studio
Multi-page documents that hold together.
- Master pages, grids and a baseline that runs through the document
- Text frames, flow and styles that survive an edit
- Placing artwork from the other two studios, still live and editable
- Tables, and long documents that need to stay consistent
- Preflight and export for print and for sharing

Affinity is a desktop application and the course is taught in it, so a laptop or a desktop — not a phone.

Affinity is published by Canva now and is signed into with a Canva account, so you will need one before the app will open. It is free to create.
A Google account
The lessons are shared to a Google Drive folder, and Drive grants access to an account. Any Gmail address works.
An internet connection
For downloading Affinity, setting up those two accounts, and watching the lessons — they stream from Drive rather than arriving as files.

The folder is shared with you and you begin whenever you like. There is no cohort and no timetable to keep up with.
Questions
Do I need to buy Affinity first?
No. Affinity is free to download, so there is no licence to buy and no subscription to start before you begin. Install it, have it open while you watch rather than watching straight through, and the only thing you have paid for is the teaching.
Why does it need a Google account?
The lessons are shared from a Google Drive folder, and Drive grants access to an account rather than to an email address in the abstract. Any Gmail address works. If that does not suit you, say so when we talk and we will find another way.
What happens after three months?
Access to the folder is withdrawn. Three months is enough time to work through the lessons more than once, and if you need longer, ask before it lapses rather than after.
Can I see something before I pay?
Yes. Ask for a trial class in your first message. It is free, it is not a sales call, and there is nothing to commit to at the end of it.
Is this live teaching?
The course itself is recorded video, so you set the pace. Questions go by email and they get real answers — you are not left alone with a folder.
